The conversation is now the business platform

May 8, 2026 | In News | By Lawrence Ladomery

How the way people work has shifted, what it means for us and for your business.

Back in 2016, automatico was built around a simple observation: small and mid-sized businesses were being left behind when it came to marketing automation. The tools existed, but they were expensive, complex, and mostly built for enterprise teams with big budgets. We saw an opportunity to change that.

It worked. For eight years, we helped businesses get more from their marketing through smarter automation.

Then something shifted. 🔄

Why we moved to CRM

A few years ago, we started paying attention to what AI was doing to the business landscape. And the more we looked, the more we noticed something a bit counterintuitive: the rise of AI was actually making human relationships more important, not less.

When processes get automated and AI handles more of the repetitive stuff, what’s left – and what actually matters – is the quality of your relationships with customers, partners, and your team. CRM is the infrastructure that helps you manage those relationships properly.

So we made the move. It made sense for our clients, and it made sense for where things were heading.

And now, Slack

Here we are again, noticing another shift.

The tools businesses run on – CRM, finance, HR, project management – haven’t gone away. But the way people work has changed. Work doesn’t really happen in those systems. It happens in conversations. Decisions get made in a thread. A deal moves forward in a message. A problem gets solved in a quick huddle.

The platform where those conversations happen is the business platform. 💬

That’s why we’ve moved our focus to Slack.

It’s not just chat

Slack gets dismissed sometimes as “just a messaging app.” But that’s like calling a smartphone “just a phone.”

The real power of Slack is that it brings everything else into the conversation. Through integrations like Slack for Salesforce, your team can update a CRM record, check a deal’s status, or get an alert about a customer issue – all without leaving the conversation to go hunting in another tab. Less context switching, fewer things falling through the cracks.

And with agentic AI entering the picture, this gets even more interesting. AI agents can now act on your behalf within Slack – surfacing information, triggering workflows, and handling tasks – right in the flow of normal work. It’s early days, but businesses that are set up well in Slack now will be in a much better position to take advantage of it.

How we can help

automatico works with businesses of all sizes – from small teams just getting started to larger organisations with complex tool stacks. We can help you get Slack set up properly from the start, integrate the tools your team already uses, and manage your workspace so it stays clean and effective as you grow.

If you’re curious about what Slack could look like for your business, we’d love to chat. 👋
